Tool Tips with Yitz!

Tip #1: This is really the most obvious, but the one that seems to need repeating the most! ALWAYS wear safety equipment, and make sure you wear it right. For example, goggles, earplugs for really loud machinery, etc…It actually is also important in our spiritual lives to wear the right ‘protection’ for our mouths and ears. Whether it is being careful about what we eat. Being careful about what we hear. Being careful about how we speak.

TIP #2: Sometimes you may want to drill a hole a certain depth. There are special collars that allow you to do that. But who wants to buy a special collar? Not me! So here’s a simple trick you can use. MASKING TAPE. That’s it. Measure the depth you want on the drill bit, put some masking tape on the bit, and just stop when you get to the tape.

TIP #3: Painting: Obviously, you want to take as little time as possible painting. So you might think that it would be a good idea to dip the brush all the way into the can of paint so you can get more paint on the brush at once. DON'T do that. You should not dip the brush in past 1/3 of the length of the bristles. Otherwise, it can cause clumping, not to mention that this method means easier cleaning – and who doesn't want that?
